Any student of Hebrew must begin his or her adventure by learning the letters and vowels. This includes being able to sound out, or pronounce written words. Most students begin with the “printed” or “book” style Hebrew, and learn cursive later. While most of Europe and the Americas uses the Latin alphabet, Hebrew is entirely different, consisting of 22 letters and vowels that are written as special symbols above and below the letters. nnBelieve it or not, students don’t learn Hebrew for the same reasons, and you, too, should examine your goals. Is your goal to learn to read the Hebrew scriptures, or is it to talk to your cousin in Israel? Or maybe you are trying to learn to pray the traditional prayers in Hebrew. nnOne tool for beginning to learn Biblical Hebrew is to learn the basic vocabulary. All people need a break, to reconnect with the spouse, to reward the kids, to restore the soul. But planning a holiday getaway can quickly turn into a stressful venture when the subject of costs comes up. Airfare by itself can kill the reverie. And when people already factor in accommodations, food, and shopping, any budget-conscious mother would just give up and stay home.
Thankfully, there are now more options for quick and fun vacations without having exhorbitant air fares.
Cheap Airfare
So, how does low-cost or cheap air fare work exactly’ Simple: Budget air travel gets you to your destination in the shortest time and at the cheapest possible price.
The main reason these airlines are able to keep airfare prices low is the no-frills precept. First, there’s no ticketing office to sustain. All reservations and purchases are transacted online. Through e-ticketing, tickets can be purchased on the Web, which eliminates the need to employ more people for processing or maintain international offices.
However, people can still avail of cheaper airfares even if they don’t want to take chances with budget air travel.
Here’s how:
1. Purchasing the airline ticket at least 10 days ahead of the scheduled trip will enable the individual to get super low fares.
2. It is best to choose a weekday departure and arrival date when possible. This is because weekend flights get filled up faster than weekdays and airlines many times tender discounts to fill up the weekday flights.

Most airlines with cheap airfares have low quality of service and lacking the ordinary amenities.
All of these factors boil down to the fact that low-cost airlines may help people to extend their vacation and make it more memorable. They just have to shop around to get those that offer cheap airfare but the quality of service is not taken for granted.
Besides the major airfare portal sites like, Orbitz, Travelocity And Expedia, you should check out airlines that they don’t include, namely Southwest Airlines, JetBlue and other discount airlines. After finding a low cost airfare at the time’s you want, call the airline directly and see if they can do better. Many times, the airlines have empty seats or unannounced specials not online.

Traveling with a dog on JetBlue?
I got a terrier in August and she was 15 pounds so I made plans to fly home for XMas and booked JetBlue and understood the animal rules. We went to the vet last week and she is now 27 pounds now as she grew a bit. The trip is too far to drive. Anyone have any idea if I will still be able to get her on the plane or if they will weigh her (their limit is 20 pounds) and deny me at the airport? Thank you for your help.

Robin Hood, one of the most Successful Disney films. by Steve Collins
Robin Hood, the twenty-first animated film released by Walt Disney Studios, premiered on November 8, 1973. It was the first feature the studio released that had no creative input from Disney himself, who died in 1966, and had many studio insiders doubting the ability of the studio to carry on without him. The success or failure of this one project would make or break the most successful animation studio in U.S. history.
With so much at stake, it is surprising that the studio had allotted such a small budget to the production. To save money, the animators were told to recycle animation cells from previous films. These cells could be amended, touched up, and re-colored, allowing new characters to perform old routines. In particular, the song-and-dance sequence for “The Phony King of England” used cells from The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, and Snow White. Moreover, the animation cells of Baloo in The Jungle Book were used to animate Little John, while Robin Hood’s cells were originally those used for Peter Pan. The sequences involving the snake Sir Hiss and his mesmerizing of King John are recycled cells used for Kaa in The Jungle Book.
The original theatrical release, in 1973, made approximately $9.5 million. This was the biggest box office return Disney had ever enjoyed up to that point. It was a tremendous success, though some critics cited the lack of grandeur that marked earlier Disney films.
Despite the minor detractions, Robin Hood is still one of the most beloved films in the Disney canon, with fans citing the lively characters, catchy songs, and intelligent dialogue as reasons for its appeal. The 1982 re-release garnered even more box office success for Disney, catapulting the studio past its creative founder and well into a new generation of animated filmmaking.

Restoring the Historical Roots of American Education by Mark Virkler
Two hundred years after the American Revolution, America is still governed by its first Constitution. We are now the longest-running constitutional republic in the history of the world. To give some perspective, France has had eight constitutions in the same 200 years. Italy has had 54 constitutions in 200 years. Why have we survived so long? It is because our founding fathers built our Constitution according to a set of ideals that are unparalleled in the history of the world.
Abraham Lincoln said, “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” If our founding fathers had a successful philosophy of government, which obviously they did, then it is very fair that we look back to the classroom to see what they taught.
Harvard:
Harvard is the oldest ongoing university in the United States. Harvard produced a number of our founding fathers, including John Quincy Adams, John Hancock, John Adams, and Samuel Adams.
Harvard’s original stated purpose for its students was: “To be plainly instructed and consider well that the main end of your life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ….” One requirement of students was that “Everyone shall so exercise himself in reading the Scriptures twice a day that he shall be able to give an account of his proficiency therein.”
Yale:
Yale also produced many founding fathers, men like Noah Webster, William Samuel Johnson, Abraham Baldwin. One of Yale’s requirements for its students read as follows: “Seeing that God is the giver of all wisdom, every student, besides his private and secret prayer, will be present morning and evening for public prayer.”
Princeton:
Princeton, founded in 1746, produced people like James Madison, Benjamin Rush and John Witherspoon. John Witherspoon became an ordained minister and was president of Princeton University (1768-1776) until New Jersey sent him to Congress. During those years at Princeton, the average graduating class was between 17 and 28 students per year. In the nine years that Witherspoon taught at Princeton, the school graduated one President, one Vice President, three Supreme Court Justices, ten Cabinet members, twelve Governors, twenty-one U.S. Senators, and thirty-nine U.S. Congressmen, plus many who held state offices. A full one-third of the founding fathers were trained at Princeton University.
What was the philosophy of an institution that produced so many national leaders? Princeton’s founding statement was, “Cursed is all learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.” It has been many years since we have seen this kind of vision of godly leadership within society set before us.
The Foundational Documents:
There are four documents which are considered the organic laws of the United States (i.e., the laws upon which all other laws are built): The Articles of Confederation, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and The Northwest Ordinance.
The Northwest Ordinance tells a territory specifically what it has to do in order to become a state in the United States. Article Three requires that no territory could become a state unless the schools in that territory were teaching religion and morality as well as knowledge. As a result, many state constitutions contain the following: “Forever in the schools of this state, religion and morality will be taught as well as knowledge.” You may want to check your state constitution.
Look at Fisher Ames’ philosophy of education: (He was the author of the First Amendment of the Constitution, which today is mis-interpreted to mean we must separate God and government.)
“Why, then, if these new books for children must be retained, as they will be, why should not the Bible regain the place it held as a school book? Its morals are pure. Its examples are captivating and noble. And the reverence for the sacred book that is thus early impressed lasts long and probably, if not impressed in infancy, never takes firm hold of the mind.”
However, today under our interpretation of Fisher Ames’ amendment, the Bible is not allowed to be studied in schools. We have drifted far from the days when our country was founded. As can been seen in the founding documents of our most prestigious universities, education in America was founded not on the pursuit of knowledge for the sake of knowledge, but rather on the pursuit of knowledge to glorify Christ. That happened and happens primarily through the study of the Word of God.
The freshman project of each of the founding universities in America was that the student be given a copy of the Greek New Testament and from it make a handwritten translation into English! Blessed are the schools that still teach from the Bible and keep the Bible as the central source of education.

The Travel Writer As Intellectual Adventurer by
William Dalrymple, the Scottish Catholic adventurer, wrote in his book From the Holy Mountain about the modern remnants of Byzantium, the following:
“John Moschos did what the modern travel writer still does: he wandered the world in search of strange stories and remarkable travellers’ tales.”
Note that Dalrymple did not say that travellers go to discover new things, or places, or people. He sets the modern travel writer on a different plane, as one who adventures through human narrative by means of travel.
That is certainly true of the opulent works of Dalrymple, for whom travelling to places is merely a starting point for an intellectual Journey Through past civilizations and cultures.
At his best Dalrymple delivers writings that reveal intellectual continents, through which run his riveting historical and moving personal revelations.
When Dalrymple spoke of travel writing and John Moschos, he was referring to an ancient traveller whose footsteps he would retrace in his quest, from Greece through the Levant to Egypt, to find the monasteries and cities that Moschos had previously written about. With John Moschos’ book, entitled The Spiritual Meadow, in hand Dalrymple journeyed to the ports of Sidon, Tyre, Beirut, Alexandria — to see what Moschos had seen, or to discover if anything Byzantine was still there in any incarnation at all.
A huge gulf of time separated Dalrymple from Moschos and yet in several appealing ways they had much in common.
An Oxford graduate from the leisured classes of Scotland, when Dalrymple set out for Byzantium he had already written a best-selling travel book In Xanadu: A Quest. For this he travelled to China while an impecunious student accompanied by relays of girlfriends. He had also written City of Djinns: A Year in Delhi based on an uneasy year he spent in the city with his young artist wife, Olivia. In his much later book White Mughals it would emerge that Dalrymple’s Anglo-Indian origins were the reason for his fascination with India.
Prior to setting out to discover Byzantium, Dalrymple consulted with a veritable slate of geniuses and eccentrics: Sir Steven Runciman, Robert Lacey and Robert Fisk among them. On his Byzantium odyssey Dalrymple started his journey at the monastery of Mount Athos on the Greek mainland in 1994. He began here because he went to see an early Greek manuscript of Moschos’s book.
John Moschos began his journey from the gates of the great desert monastery of St Theodosius overlooking Bethlehem. The year was 578 A.D., nearly 1500 years before Dalrymple set out from Mount Athos. Moschos was an almost exact contemporary of Mohammed.” This wandering Jew of a monk” as a biographer of Moschos wrote, travelled with his pupil Sophronius, who in old age would become Patriarch of Jerusalem, and it was left to him to defend the Holy City against the first army of Islam as it swept up from Arabia, conquering all before it.”
Moschos wanted to see and write about Byzantium when it was under assault. Justinian’s efforts to re-establish the Roman Empire had failed. Now Byzantium was threatened in the west by Slavs, Goths and Lombards and from the east by desert nomads and the legions of Sassanian Persia”.
Dalrymple wanted to write about a civilization that is largely forgotten and its remnants growing few and remote from modern life. It is not commonly realized that for 300 years Byzantium was the dominant culture of Eastern Europe and the Levant. It was a distinct cultural era between Rome and Islam, and yet so little of it remains in the Western consciousness, except in Eastern Orthodox religious traditions.
Both Dalrymple and Moschos wanted to recover, record and preserve a phase of history most remembered in the adjective Byzantine” or faintly remembered from the portraits in mosaic of Justinian and Theodora at Ravenna.
John Moschos and his companion ended their journey in Constantinople where he wrote his book. It was hailed as the masterpiece of Byzantine travel writing even then and in a generation or two was translated into several languages.
William Dalrymple ended his journey in Egypt and sojourned in the home of a friend in Somerset, England where he wrote his book. With From the Holy Mountain Dalrymple came of age as a writer. Some would say it was his greatest work. Today Dalrymple the family man divides his time between a farm outside Delhi, London and Edinburgh.
With From the Holy Mountain he did what he wanted to do. I wanted to see wherever possible what Moschos and Sophronius had seen, to sleep in the same monasteries, to pray under the same frescoes and mosaics, to discover what was left, and to witness what was in effect the last ebbing twilight of Byzantium.”
