All Singles Best $22.99 Kobukuro had been around since 1998, but waited nearly a decade to release a best-of compilation, a long time to wait by J-pop standards. However, Kobukuro was never entirely within the normal realm of J-pop proper, holding to a foundation of folk and singer/songwriter aesthetics. At their best, as in “Takarajima,” the duo can evoke emotions and musicality at the same time, not necessarily forcing the most dulcet tones vocally, but using their vocal deficiencies to power a more emotive run (? la Hata Motohiro). They have enough range to move toward full-on power pop or basic J-pop, but the duo generally avoids such trappings. Instead, they create relatively simple compositions, heartfelt lyrics and vocal deliveries, and compact arrangements. There’s a lot of material on this double-disc set, and all of it is well constructed. The songs flow into one another fairly well, with a high level of coherence among the tracks. As a result, specific standouts are relatively rare, instead blending into a larger whole, not entirely unlike the wunderkind group Brilliant Green in their construction of full albums and coherent styles. Kobukuro is at the forefront of a movement toward less obviously manufactured elements in Japanese music, moving toward more songcraft and authentic emotional attachments. With a ranging collection like All Singles Best, the reason for their success at such an endeavor is clear. ~ Adam Greenberg |

It’s Time $24.99 Personnel: Jimmy D. Lane (vocals, guitar, bass guitar, drums); Celia Price (piano, Hammond b-3 organ); Mike Finnigan (Hammond b-3 organ); Tommy Shannon (bass guitar); Chris Layton (drums).You might call Jimmy D. Lane a natural born bluesman. His father was the legendary Jimmy Rogers, who Jimmy D. shared the stage with for many years before recording on his own. Lane can play it ’50s-style, as he did with his father and on Eomot RaSun’s album, but he can also turn it up and rock out with any of the finest guitar slingers. For It’s Time, Lane tackles a program of original tunes (except for one), with the aid of Double Trouble, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s rhythm section. These guys bring decades of experience to their blues rhythms, and know exactly how to support a player like Lane. Keyboard duties are split between Celia Ann Price on B3 and piano, and Mike Finnigan on the B3. In addition, the album was produced and engineered by the one and only Eddie Kramer, who adds crisp, clear production values and some very subtle studio tricks (check out the panning in the slide solo on “Stuck in the Middle”). As a writer, Lane sticks close to standard subject matter “What Makes People” is certainly a close cousin of Willie Dixon’s “The Same Thing,” but the variety of tempos and grooves and great playing all around keep the album exciting. The reggae-inflected acoustic rhythm guitar and congas give “Til I Loved You” a unique sound, and the acoustic guitar, haunting slide and general atmosphere of “Stuck in the Middle” brings Lane close to Little Axe territory. “Ain’t It a Pity” adds a bit of gospel flavor, a wonderful liquid guitar tone and the slightest bit of echo on some of Lane’s vocals to great effect. But most of these songs showcase Lane’s considerable guitar prowess and tough playing style. Great guitar solos are in abundance all over It’s Time, and Lane really gets a chance to stretch out on Elmore James’ “Bleeding Heart” (yet another connection to Jimi Hendrix’s legacy). Credit must also go to label/studio owner Chad Kassem for putting out blues albums that sound the way they ought to: real musicians playing real instruments together in the same space without the gloss and polish (especially on drums) that is the bane of too many modern blues albums. Any fan of serious blues guitar really needs to check out Jimmy D. Lane, and It’s Time is an excellent place to start. ~ Sean Westergaard |

What are the times of all U.S. sales best characters in comics and / or the series?
I want a list here. I sure Batman or Superman, Spiderman or maybe even Captain Marvel is on top of the list. I'm looking for 29 or maybe 39 next responses.
I do not see a list officer, but I'm sure if we go back far enough: Superman Captain Marvel (Shazam! today but I speak when it was published by Fawcett and drawn by CC Beck) Batman Blackhawk Archie Comics CE (can not remember the title, but certainly more than a horror books, that is) Amazing Stories / Spiderman Fantastic Four X-Men This list is incomplete, of course, more or less chronological, not sales. No doubt Conan the Barbarian is in the best-seller list for someone, but if you include the stories of Superman and pasta before that if these factors when it comes to the series? So before any of them was a Belgian series, which may well be the best-selling comic book character all time.
